A family business
since 1996

The family owned company is based in town of Grézillé, located 30 km from Angers, in the Maine and Loire department in the West of France, currently a dynamic business area. Founded in 1996 under the name of cabinet maker Laurioux, the company was bought by Guy and Catherine Chartier in 2008. Their sons Florent and Julien joined the company in 2009 and in 2001, respectively; they then began running the company in 2019.

With 44 employees, 9 in admin and 35 in the workshop, Maison Chartier creates high-quality, luxury furniture. Each piece in our collection caters to specific dimensions, finishes or colours; in addition, we also make custom pieces.

In order to fulfil our clients’ requests, we work with solid wood or special veneers, as well as metals (eg steel, aluminium, inox), glass or leather. We also collaborate with other artisans to integrate their pieces in ceramic, brass, or textured lacquer.

Key moments of
the business

1996
Laurioux furniture maker founded and run by André and Mickael Laurioux.. The company had six employees and did general woodworking.
1998
The company expanded, building a 15,000 sq ft workshop and employing 13 workers, the production line was streamlined to furniture making.
2008
Guy and Catherine Chartier acquired the company and the laborforce grew to 16 people.
2008 à 2015
In order to modernize, a complete reorganisation was undertaken; the administrative side restructured and the production line improved thanks to the purchase of new wood-working machines.

2015
The company name was changed to Maison Chartier and employed 25 people.
2017
Building expansion of 13000sq ft dedicated to wood finishing, including 3 OMIA paint booths, a prep lab, stations for sanding, lighting, packing and shipping. Consequently, the laborforce rose to 35 people.
2019
Julien and Florent Chartier bought out the company.
2020
Today, Maison Chartier employees 44 people and includes a 28000 sq ft workshop, and looks forward to future developments and improvements.
